Jambo! Greetings from Hope Community Center! We arrived safely to HCC on Friday evening and were warmly greeted in song by all the children as we drove into the compound. The children were especially excited to see Pastor Erwin and Elaine who they remembered from their previous visits. Our ministry work began in earnest on Saturday as we played with the younger children throughout the day. SuzeAnn held her first skit practice with a group of the younger children who would portray the story of the Good Shepherd during the Sunday worship service. Over the course of the week, all the younger children will have the opportunity to participate in a skit, complete with costumes! Rebecca and Jason played with the remaining children, giving them the opportunity to get to know the children by name and build relationship with them. Heading for Hope

HOPECC2018 Update: Nairobi, 5:30 AM. The neighbor's rooster has been crowing for a while. Today we are headed up to Hope. At Lucy's suggestion, we stayed an extra day here in Nairobi. It gave us a chance to recover from the 22 hours of travel, and map out the 9 days here.  Lucy and I also got a start on a writing project she is excited about. (BTW we figured out why it took us so much longer this time. Qatar Airlines, our carrier, had to make two detours to avoid Saudi airspace.) We're hoping to be on the road by 10 AM today, with several stops along the way, including the grocery store and some fruit stands on the Rift Valley rim road to pick up pancake mix, apples, and bananas to make a special breakfast Saturday for the "babies" - the 52 children under 12. This evening at devotions, we'll pass on greetings from all of Hope's Cincinnati friends, and start sharing the Children's Prayer Covenant. (See PrayerCovenant.org). The older kids already ha...

Hi Friends - We're just a week away from our trip to Hope Community Center in Kenya! I talked with Lucy today and she is very excited that we are coming.  We'll be gone for 2 weeks, but that means just 10 days at Hope.  Ten very full days! Here's a quick overview of what we'll be doing: Equipping children at Hope to share the Children's Prayer Covenant   Jazzercize! Making a special breakfast for the "babies" (children under 12, who come to Hope as infants) Sharing at evening worship Directing the children to present Bible story skits Teaching a 5-Day Seminar on "The Privilege of Prayer" to high school students and staff Teaching a 5-Day Seminar on "The Normal Christian Life" to high school students and staff Baptizing children Celebrating communion Dedicating the new primary school   We'd love your prayers as we get ready amid family responsibilities, getting coverage for work, and being on another mission...
